Designer, Educator, Administrator, Artist

Lilian Crum is a Michigan-based educator and designer. She is the Associate Dean for the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University (Southfield, MI), where she also teaches as a tenured Associate Professor of Graphic Design. She is a Partner and Creative Director at Unsold Studio, an award-winning design studio that focuses on building brands for clients ranging from cultural institutions to corporate and retail enterprises.

Lilian has presented about design and design education in both local and international venues, including countries such as Canada, Portugal, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Russia, and Singapore. In 2019, Unsold Studio represented Detroit and the United States at the UNESCO Cities of Design convening in Singapore, organized by the Singapore Design Council. In 2020, she was selected as a “Notable Woman in Design” by Crain’s Detroit Business. Lilian received her MFA in 2D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art and her HBA in Art and Art History from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. Lilian also serves on the AIGA (Professional Association for Design) Detroit Board of Directors as the Education Chair, and on the Southfield Public Arts Commission.
